Student Data Privacy

Dallas City Elementary School takes the privacy of your student's data seriously.  We will be working to continually update this site with the data privacy practices and resources to keep your student's data secure.

FERPA

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act

The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords certain rights to Parents and Eligible Students in regards to Education Records that are maintained by schools and universities.

CIPA

Children’s Internet Protection Act

The Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) was enacted by Congress in 2000 to address concerns about children's access to obscene or harmful content over the Internet. CIPA imposes certain requirements on schools or libraries that receive discounts for Internet access or internal connections through the E-rate program – a program that makes certain communications services and products more affordable for eligible schools and libraries. In early 2001, the FCC issued rules implementing CIPA and provided updates to those rules in 2011.

COPPA

Childrens Online Privacy Protection Act

COPPA imposes certain requirements on operators of websites or online services directed to children under 13 years of age, and on operators of other websites or online services that have actual knowledge that they are collecting  personal information online from a child under 13 years of age.

SOPPA

Student Online Personal Protection Act

The Student Online Personal Protection Act, or SOPPA, is the data privacy law that regulates student data collection and use by schools, the Illinois State Board of Education, and education technology (EdTech) vendors.

Dallas City Elementary works closely with the Student Data Privacy Consortium (SDPC), which is an unique collaborative of schools, districts, regional, territories and state agencies, policy makers, trade organizations and marketplace providers addressing real-world, adaptable, and implementable solutions to growing data privacy concerns.
