Welcome

Information about our School

Welcome to Dallas City Elementary School!  We are a small Pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade school located in the northwest part of Hancock County in Illinois.  We have just fewer than 200 students which allows one class per grade level.  Our junior high wing hosts students in grades 6-8. Upon promoting from the eighth grade, our students attend high school at Illini West in Carthage.

Our goals are to maintain a safe school environment, stress academic excellence and help students find success.

At Dallas city Elementary we strive to provide a quality educational experience for each student.  We offer a rich curriculum in reading, writing, mathematics, science and social studies that follows the Illinois Learning Standards.  In addition to our core academics we have second to none music, art and physical education departments.  The Response to Intervention process is followed to assist student who need extra behavioral and academic support.  To best serve our students with special needs, our district shares resources with the West Central Illinois Special Education Cooperative.

We have a strong sports cooperative program with LaHarpe Elementary School.  We work hard to provide opportunities for students in grades 5-8 to participate in extracurricular activities.

We are proud of several events that occur on an annual basis:  Book Fair, Grandparent’s Day, Veterans Day Celebration, Penny Carnival, School Picnic, Musical Production and several Concerts.

Dallas City educators are working to help every student achieve academic success.  We are focusing on what we CAN DO to make a difference for the students and the community.

We incorporate Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) into our school.  This system places emphasis on student success.  We also follow Covey’s Seven Habits of Success:  Be Proactive, Begin with the End in Mind, put First Things First, Think Win-Win, Seek First to Understand and then to be Understood, Synergize and Sharpen the Saw.

We encourage parents, family and community members to attend the many events hosted throughout the year, join PTO, attend school board meetings, visit and volunteer at OUR school.  We look forward to seeing you here!
