8th Grade Promotion

Join us for 8th grade promotion on Thursday, May 21 at 7:00 PM. Students in 8th grade should plan to attend school through June 1.

Nancy Olson's Race To Recovery Benefit May 30, 2015

Nancy Olson (Ms. O) has been a dedicated teacher for the past 27 years. She was hospitalized in January and has had multiple surgeries. There will be a 5K at 9:00 am, a Frisbee Golf Tournament at 2:00 then beginning at 4:30, a Silent Auction, Kids Games with a $5.00 Pit Pass, a Free Will Offering Fish Fry ( serving from 5:00 to 7:00) and a Live Auction at 7:00. We will also draw the winning raffle ticket ( of which are still being sold) for $500. If the winner of that ticket is present, they win $1000! Please join us!

Teacher of the Year Runner Up

Congrats to Mrs. DeSotel she is the Hawkeye's Teacher of the Year 1st place runner up! Way to go!

Greenhouse Is Open

The JH Greenhouse is OPEN for the season! Come check out the beautiful flowers and vegetables that the students have been growing. There are several flowering plants, planters, hanging baskets, and vegetables (tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers). We also have finished birdhouse gourds and tin flowers for sale next to the JH science room. The students would be happy to assist you in buying flowers, vegetables, gourds, or tin flowers. Come on down! The greenhouse will be open during the spring concerts.

Students Honored

Katie Kaminski & Drew McDowell were both chosen to represent Dallas City Elementary School at the Illinois Principals Association Recognition Breakfast at Western Illinois University on Friday, May 1, 2015. They were selected by Mrs. Bilbrey and the junior high teachers because of their leadership skills. They have demonstrated respect, responsibility, and a caring attitude. They received a certificate and a copy of the book Oh, the Places You'll Go by Dr. Seuss. Congratulations to both of them.

Dallas City Elementary Looking for Volunteers
We are looking for persons who are willing to share areas of expertise with students. If you have a hobby, collection, interest or a skill that you are willing to share with students, please contact Principal Bilbrey at 217.852.3201 for more information.

AMP! Academic Mentoring Program

Dallas City Elementary School will offer an after school tutoring program for some students in grades K-4. The program will resume on January 6. After winter assessments in January data will be analyzed and new students may be invited to join the program. The program will assist students in areas of specific academic need. The program is held Mondays-Thursdays from 3:05-4:20.

Gold Circle of Quality Achieved By Pre-K Program

Congratulations to our Pre-K program! The program has achieved the Gold Circle of Quality rating from ExceleRate Illinois. This rating system has high standards and our program has met the highest standards. We are proud to offer this exceptional Pre-K program to our community.

This is a reminder that if you have students enrolling in Pre-K, Kindergarten, 2nd grade or 6th grade in the fall they will need the following health exams:

New Pre-K Students
Physical exam and required immunizations including Pneumococcal, lead screen, diabetes screening by October 15th.

Certified copy of birth certificate by October 15th .

Kindergarten Students

Physical exam and required immunizations including proof of 2 doses Varicella vaccine , proof of 2 doses of MMR vaccine, lead screening, diabetes screening by October 15th

Certified copy of birth certificate (if not on file) by October 15th

Vision exam by an optometrist or ophthalmologist by October 15th

Dental exam

2nd Grade Students

Dental exam

Proof of 2 doses Varicella vaccine

6th Grade Students

Physical exam and required immunizations including one dose of Tdap vaccine, proof of 3 doses Hep B, proof of 2 doses of Varicella vaccine, proof of 2 doses of MMR vaccine and diabetes screening by October 15th

Dental exam

Beginning this school year (Fall of 2014) ALL students entering, advancing, or transferring into grades K - 12TH grades will be required to show proof of receipt of two doses of MMR vaccine and two doses of Varicella vaccine.

Failure to comply with the requirements of the health/immunization exam by October 15th will result in the student’s exclusion from school until the required health forms are presented to the school.
